On Oct. 31, 2020, St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut, erupted in applause and church bells resounded as Father Michael McGivney was officially declared “blessed.” In a decree from the Vatican that was read at the beatification Mass, Pope Francis commended Blessed Michael McGivney for his “zeal for the proclamation of the Gospel and generous concern for his brothers and sisters” that “made him an outstanding witness of Christian solidarity and fraternal assistance.” Five years later, devotion to Father McGivney continues to grow as Knights and others around the world emulate his example and pray for his canonization.
One Priest, Many Nations
Connecticut sites related to the life and ministry of Blessed Michael McGivney — including St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, the birthplace of the Order — have become cherished places of pilgrimage and prayer. Knights from several jurisdictions around the world share how making this pilgrimage has deepened their spirituality as men of faith and action.

Standing With Military Chaplains
The Saint John XXIII Foundation, which contributes to the pastoral support of Catholics in the armed services, named Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly its 2025 Honorary Patron during a reception in Charleston, South Carolina, Oct. 23. In the award proclamation, the foundation’s board of directors thanked the Knights of Columbus for supporting the mission and ministries of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, for the past 40 years.

‘Live Your Life for God
Toronto Blue Jays first base coach Mark Budzinski has built a career around baseball but believes that, ultimately, true fame and glory can only come through God. As a member of the Knights, he has found the opportunity to help others and grow as a servant leader. “While [winning] is important, at the end of the day, we’re brought on this earth for more things than just baseball,” he said. “Live your life for God and doing things the right way.”

Sons in the Son
A 40-day preparation for consecration to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Sons in the Son invites men to rediscover their identity as sons of God and sons of Mary. Written by Fathers Innocent Montgomery and Angelus Montgomery of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, this 130-page booklet takes St. Juan Diego as a model and includes 40 daily reflections culminating in an act of consecration. Knights are encouraged to begin Nov. 2 to conclude on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dec. 12. For details and to order, visit kofc.org/sons.
